About Joe Schutte

Coming Home

Joe Schutte wasn’t born in Argyle — but he came back on purpose.

Born in Monroe and raised in Madison through elementary school — he moved to Oregon in 6th grade — Joe graduated from Oregon High School before spending 21 years building a career out east — first in Bound Brook, NJ, then in Freemansburg, PA near Bethlehem. But Argyle was always in the picture. His aunt and uncle farmed just outside the village in the Town of Argyle, and Joe spent weeks here every summer growing up — the kind of place that stays with you.

When his mom moved to Argyle in 2018 to be closer to family, the connection deepened. Joe came back to stay in 2021. He started getting involved in the community in 2023, and things moved quickly from there: in October 2024 he took on the role of community and economic development for the village, and in November 2024 he was appointed to fill a vacant seat on the Lafayette County Board as Supervisor for District 9. He was subsequently elected to both the County Board and as Village President, taking office April 21, 2026.

Professional Background

Joe’s career spans technology, networking, and consulting. He is the owner of Geek Powered of WI, LLC, a technology and managed services company based in Argyle. After a long career in telecommunications including as a Technical Director at AT&T, he stepped away from corporate work in May 2026 to focus full-time on Geek Powered and his public service. His background in carrier-grade networking and infrastructure means he approaches local challenges the same way he approaches complex technical problems: look at the data, understand the system, make a decision, and act.

That combination — deep technical expertise, business ownership, and genuine roots in this community — is what he brings to every board meeting, budget discussion, and infrastructure decision.

“I’ve lived in a lot of places. I came back here because I think Argyle has something worth building on. I’m not interested in maintaining the status quo — I’m here to help this place grow.”

— Joe Schutte
